We’re on a hunt to revive an old netbook because it has become laggy. We suspect its because of the HDD almost deteriorating and found that it was indeed the reason to lags. Apparently, the said netbook’s HDD had 238 bad sectors on its HDD. So we gave Ubuntu to try along with other Linux “flavors”
Admittedly, Ubuntu is indeed fancy for a linux OS. It had other flavors that were much more lightweight as well but alas, the lag of the netbook we are trying to fix didn’t disappear until we came back to Windows 7 and did defrag.
Lubuntu was pretty cool because it was really fast but after installing it as the main OS, things failed and still was laggy. So I guess we’ll have to stick to Windows 7 in the end. Pretty much, this feels like buy gold online as a task, but I do hope the netbook is more usable now than before.
